I like to think of myself as a fashionable dweeb – the girl that’s technology obsessed and surrounded, but always looking for a little flare when it comes to stylish specs. Earlier in the year I decided to splurge wholeheartedly in an iPad that I refused to open for two weeks. Little did I know how much I was missing out on when I tore that pristine cellophane wrap.
Transformed. What a world of apps, games, travel-buddying, and frenetic browsing. Only problem was that I was carrying it around in a paper David’s Tea bag because I was committed to finding the perfect package to carry it in. So began the search. Though I first settled on an Incase package, here are two other stellar alternatives:
1. PKG.
Known for their fun patterns and bright prints, these purveyors of fine digital accessories (their words, not mine) have a collection of functional and flattering cases. My favourites include a wooly plaid checked fabric case (with a zippered pocket for extra storage and a top handle for easy carrying) that goes by the name of “STUFF”.
My eyes are drawn to the second prize, going to a bright quilted orange, made of water resistant nylon (not that your iPad should go anywhere near).
Fun fact – you can add a long strap to your case and boom, instant messenger bag.
2. REVEAL Accessories.
Fashion tech it is, REVEAL Accessories is an eco-friendly case company who also happen to be one of the originators of the ‘iPad Purse’. The Audrey iPad Purse is a lush carrying case that doubles as a purse for a night out (sans-technology). They call it TECHXY (tech meets sexy), with soft foam padding and made from recycled suede and satin. It’s a mix of vegan patent leather and soft suede-esque material. My pick – the electric lego blue shade. Subtle and sharp.
